cardigan in pale cocoa

I've got this mohair wool jersey in the color of cocoa powder and made a cardigan from it. I love the texture of the fabric, it's so so so soft and fluffy. I look like a teddy bear in it, but I don't care! I'm a very special teddy bear that speaks like a human.

By the way, I'm not working in a tailored suit or in an uniform in the daytime. I have to say that I don't often have chances to dress up in silk dresses either. I just live in very casual sets of clothes on most days of my life. So, I need to feed those everyday clothes such as this cardigan for my everyday life to the wardrobe with my beloved sewing machine. The good thing is, I love sewing *boring* clothes! I'm having a great fun giving a bit of prettiness (and a handful weirdness) to my very ordinary wardrobe. I think that hobby seamstresses/seamsters are a bunch of lucky people who can control and improve what to wear.

I put some red buttons to this long brown cardigan as an accent and I'm pretty happy with the result!
Extremely spectacular, eh?

Hope you all are having a good week!

  2. I think your using the red buttons to accent the cardigan is a great idea . It dresses up the cardigan and still keeps it looking casual and comfortable at the same time. Your red shoes are gorgeous.

  3. I live in long cardigans (even at work!), so thanks so much for bringing this pattern to my attention. None of the Big 4 pattern companies have this type of pattern. I just hope that I could understand pictures enough to work out how to sew the pattern (I don't speak Japanese). Also, where is your fabric from?

I love the color of this and the way you "pouffed" the sleeves.

  4. Oh yes, very nice! I have a beautiful red wool doubleknit and I have this Kwik Sew pattern. My only thought was "oh too boring". Now I have a much better impression. I love the slight fullness in the sleeves with the cuff. Lovely.
You are so right that we are lucky to sew our own fashion.

Reading your comment, I made a quick PDF for translations. Please have a look at it when you actually try to purchase the patterns from them (you may use it for purchasing from other Japanese pattern shops of course!) This list is incomplete but I think there is no mistranslation in meaning-wise. Regarding fabric source, I bought it from one of Japanese online fabric stores. They stock tons of hight quality fabrics, but I am not sure if their international shipping is reasonably cheap... My jersey is tagged as "TISSUS MONDE PARIS", I don't know much about the manufacturer, though.
Oh, and thank you for the correction! I needed it!

A teddy bear? More like chic and gorgeous woman!
And you're right, sewing your own "ordinary" clothes is just as rewarding, and useful to your wardrobe too!

  16. Great looking cardigan, classy, comfortable looking ..love your button choice! Got a big laugh from Selfish seamstress calling you her "nemisis"..all in good fun. You are both wonderful seamstresses! I am going back to look at your Fabric link and your PDF translations. Oh how I wish I could read Japanese. I just purchased some Japanese cotton fabric from an online source Fabrictales.com. Shipping was quick and not terribly expensive.

  17. I love this cardigan. Those red buttons make it very special and with that dress underneath you look nothing like a teddybear, or it should be a very pretty teddybear ;-)
